Hey guys! I have finally started packing!! yeay..still much more to do though..and it's really hard sorting out which stuff I need to bring to the US..=/

My dear cousin said I should bring a small rice cooker..she has experience studying abroad, so I'm taking her advice...haha..that explains the pot in the bag..

But let me steal a few minutes from packing to blog about another farewell dinner..with my previous Japanese bosses..Kato-san & Sakamoto-san..

Letme share a little bit of my experience in working with the Japanese..You've heard that the Japanese are extra smart right?well...that is so true..i am amazed at their ability to explain in detail, especially the technical stuff..i mean, how can all that knowledge fit in their brains? do they eat their books?...and they are so dedicated & industrious, working till wee hours of the morning..sometimes I feel like tapping their shoulders to say 'Dude, enough is enough...let's go out & enjoy life'.

I was lucky to work under two great bosses..both so nice and helpful..we met for dinner at a steamboat restaurant, and stayed there for 2 hours eating & joking around..

My current boss (ok ex-boss since i resigned already), Sakamoto-san..psssst,he's still single~haha..

Here's Sakamoto & Kato..Kato-san was my boss before Sakamoto-san..He has now transferred to Japan & was kind enough to have dinner with us during his short trip to Malaysia..i do not get why i am obsessed with the 'piece' pose in these pictures..

Me, Kato & Kak Mun...

The whole gang..so the one in the top middle with a stripe shirt is also single besides Sakamoto (guys you'll thank me someday..haha!)

And you know what?Kato-san even brought back a souvenior for me from Japan! He knew I loved these biscuit..seriously..i can munch this whole package in an hour...haha..thank you Kato-san!!

It has been an honour working with you guys..& I sure hope we'll cross path again in the future...=)

heelloo~ yup...you guessed right..i still haven't started on my assignment..and packing..and I haven't converted any money to the USD currency..thats just to name a few on my 'to do' list..

Just wanna take a sec of all the troubling stuff to blog about my business partner's wedding..well, she's more than that to me..a friend, a sister, a great listener...

Muna & I meet in the company I previously worked at, and as usual (since I find it difficult to let people in), we didn't instantly click. After a while, after tuning our frequency to the same wavelength..we had a great time being each other's companion, & in fact..started our first online business together. Sad to say that we'll eventually have to shut it down, even though it's doing great...because both of us will be living in totally different continents after this..

It's a shame because we were learning a lot..on marketing, budgeting and especially about customer service..which was totally different from our main line of work, which is engineering..

I can't believe she's already married! Ahaha..it came of a suprise to most of us..because we didn't know that she had a bf..but I'm so glad she found the love of her life..and that she made it to the altar..she is such a kind, innocent and beautiful person, so she deserves all the happiness in the world..here are some pics from her wedding..to Muna...Congratulations dear, you looked beautifully radiant on your big day...hehe, strive to be an awesome wife ok?show those jerks (you know who i'm talking about..okay fine i'm one of those jerks..haha) that you are not the bimbo they say you are..and please dear..i expect to be served the usual tea & coffee when I visit you..no more 3 in 1's..for crying out loud, you're a wife already!~ =)

and OMG. rehan why is your face like that?haha...sooo NOT the pose for weddings...

XOXO girl! I'm really happy for you! =)

Hi people..a short post just because I have a freaking long to do list to finish before the 1st of September...I don't know if I can finish all of them! Help~

I'm suppose to be reading 20 profiles of a few dartmouth's alumni..I haven't even started my classes yet but I already have assignments..sheesh..

Not to mention a few serious issue's that I don't prefer to expose here...but owh well, in the midst of it all..there's no reason to not laugh & be silly rght?=)

It has started..

It has started...the goodbye hangouts..yup..i have a few dates lined up to meet a few close friends before I go..it's starting to sink in that I'll be leaving so many people that I love..

I do have a few old friends that I constantly contact..Friends from my school time to my uni years...These people have walked me trough life..and they've accepted me for who I am, laughed at my jokes, and helped me get through the hard times..especially after mom died..

On the 4th day of Raya, me and my uni BFF's decided to meet at the Curve..after arguing at which place to have lunch (this is a MUST DO everytime..tk kesahlaa jumpa member2 or bf..hehe), we settled for Nandos. And when I say BFF's..i dont mean girls..ahaha...only one of them is a girl..all the others are weird nerds that I myself wonder why I am so close to them..haha..sorry im joking..they know I love them..

I cant believe all the guys in our group are married...These are the people that I kutuk and curse at during my uni years because..umm..it's fun to be mean to nerds?(kids, if you are reading this do not set me as an example!)...and now their somebody's husband and are about to be dads..slap me please~

But hey...I guess everyone goes through this phase of life..where previously you just follow your parents to weddings to eat free food..and now the weddings you go to are your own friend's weddings..you used to bring and see your friends bringing their gf or bf to events..and now you see them bringing cute little babies..

Haha...well, let's just live life to the fullest & enjoy every moment of it~

The gang from left: Sapek, his lovely wife Huda, Ikin, myself & Illiyas

I like the pic below because Sapek isn't in it..we fight every second it's a miracle we're BFF's..

See how short I am? It's so obvious cause I'm wearing flats, and I can't wear heels because I'm a klutz and I fall easily..

The lovely newly weds..

Owh yeah..after the meeting I did some 'minor' shopping...

2 sets of shoes, a huge bag for class, perfume, 2 basic tops, & some 'innerwear' which I obviously can't post here..

I can hear a few of my GF's shouting "IZZA!!~"...sorry guys tershopping byk nk buat mcm ne~ Taa for now~

Hi guys..to all my muslim friends..SELAMAT HARI RAYA & MAAF ZAHIR BATIN!~And to all my non-muslim friends, hope you guys enjoy the holidays..=)

I have only 11 days left here in Malaysia..I don't want to think about it to much, because I'll definitely cry my eyes out..So I would like to share something happy with you guys..Something wonderful that happened to me about a month ago..

The tale starts with a lunch and movie date with Rehan & Fizi..A lot of weird things happened that day which should have made me realize they were up to something..

Weird thing 1: Fizi asked to pick me up at home, & wanted us to go out late..around 2pm.

I mean, I know these guys. They have been with me for a few years, and so far all our hang-outs will start early, since I can't come back so late (yup, still under daddy's thumb at 25). And also, Fizi isn't that nice (muahaha!), I felt weird that he was willing to pick me up at my house. Usually we just meet somewhere.

So after scolding fizi about wanting to go out so late, all three of us went out like around 12.30..we ate and went to see a movie (Silent House, i think...it sucked big time). We also did a little shopping.

Weird thing 2: Fizi was complaining that his mobile batteries were almost out (I've never heard him complain about this before). And he kept messaging someone, and I seriously thought it was his gf.

Weird thing 3: Rehan & Fizi kept walking slower than me, so that I was in front. And when I looked back at them, they were talking a little to suspiciously. I got pissed and ranted "What are you guys talking about??Why walk so slow???"..and they just brushed me off..i thought they did that to annoy me, which was not weird cause they do that every chance they get..

Weird thing 4: They asked me to ask my dad if I could go back a little late than usual. Of course I was reluctant, I mean..we already ate and watched a movie..I was also tired of walking and wanted to go back already..But they made a pretty good cover up story..they said this probably will be the last hang-out together since Rehan is getting married and I'll be studying in the US...I finally agreed..

After the loooong date..We finally decided to head back at 7pm (yup to my dad this is already late). I still had no clue that they had an evil plan..

About 15 minutes from my house,  Fizi said he wanted to go to the john. So we made a stop at Tol Kajang's restroom.

Weird thing 5: Fizi said he suddenly didn't feel like going to the toilet anymore..and Rehan went instead (minah ni memang minah toilet).

After Rehan got back to the car, Fizi suddenly turned to me and said "Izza, actually...we have a suprise for you. But first, we have to blindfold you."

I swear...that moment, my heart dropped..I instantly looked to my left & right..and said "Please dont rape me!"

Ahaha..this shows the 'high' level of trust I have in my friends..

Of course they laughed like crazy when I said that, but I swear I was serious. Ahaha..I did not get why they had to blindfold me. But I gave in, in the end. But my heart was beating so hard & so fast..and it's not because I did not trust my friends..but the fear of not knowing what'll happen to me, & where I'll be going is a little bit scary for me..

And these two fools...these idiots had the time of their lives scaring the hell out of me..they kept saying things that made me think that I'll be dead in a few seconds..

Fizi drove the car around 10 minutes, which freaked me out even more because the road he took was bumpy and had holes in them. And Fizi was driving slower than usual, so I was certain they where taking me somewhere deep into the woods to kill me.

Finally they stopped, and Rehan & Fizi lead me into a park (I still thought it was the woods because they did not open my blindfold yet)..I'll be posting a video, and you'll see how freaked out I was. Haha..When they said "Ok, we're here!"..I was so relieved I wanted to cry.

Then someone open my blindfolds, but I knew who it was when I saw the shoes.

Well..that was the moment..I saw that I was standing inside candles shaped into a heart.

Puyeng got down on his knees, & proposed..

After that, we had cake..which Puyeng bought from Alexis's cause he knew I loved the pavlova there so much...

There are no words to describe how I felt that night..but perhaps 'ultimate happiness and love' is the best description..=)

I am so lucky to have these people in my life, so lucky they would take their time to make me happy..

And Puyeng, he's definitely a keeper..=)

It's going to be harder to leave because of this, but at least I have the memory of this night to hold on to when I feel alone or helpless..

Thank you hafizi, rehan, atikah and pundak for making this night possible..you guys are awesome..

And babe, I know you'll be reading this..thank you too..you always manage to sweep me off my feet..=)

Here's a few other pics from that night, and a simple video I made for your viewing pleasure..enjoy~

Atikah & puyeng getting the place ready...

Yummy cake~

Our camera-man, pundak..thanks for the pics & the recording!!

See how satisfied they look after scaring the shit out of me?haha...

I am soooo frustrated by google video & youtube!!~ I wanted to share my proposal video that I made with you guys..google says they have a server problem everytime i try to upload the vid to blogger...and youtube has this weird setting now where I can't choose to let my vid be played on
mobiles..whatever guys..please fix this bug quick~

It's the last day of Ramadhan, Eid-eve. A very mixed emotions day for Muslim's, sad because the holy month of Ramadhan is leaving us, but happy because on Eid we get to celebrate our success of fasting during the Ramadhan month.

I have secret to tell you guys...

I dont really like Eid -day...

Hrmm..I can imagine looks of disapproval from some of you guys..but its the truth..

Why?Because so far, it's the one time in every year that makes me miss my mom so much..She died of cancer 5 years ago..So i would just like to leave a little note here..to cure a little bit of this emptiness & sorrow..so here goes..

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Mom,

Hi Mom! It's been 5 years already, & we're doing OK..We miss you, but we're fine..so you don't have to worry OK?

We went to the florist yesterday, and bought some flowers for you. Dad picked them..after all these years Dad is still being romantic to ya huh?=)

Dad has a cough that has been there for some time, & his sinus is getting worse..he refuses to go for a serious checkup and just eats the normal flu meds..can you please come in his dreams & ask him to go to the hospital for a full checkup for our sake?He wont listen when I ask him too..

I'm doing fine..I'm still in love with the same guy..he's great..he takes care of, respects me & makes me happy..I wish you guys could get to know each other...I think you would have liked him..=)

I finally got a scholarship! yup, after all these years of trying...i'll be going to the US in 2 weeks..I'll try to visit East Lansing, Michigan okay mom? I wanna go back & see our old apartment...& remember back how you used to pull my sled during the winter, and how we used to build ugly snowmen...haha...

Nash got a scholarship also! She did great in her SPM, and next year she'll probably be going to the US or UK..She's taking engineering, like me! Sorry mom, somehow none of us want to follow your's and dad's footsteps in becoming an educator...i think it's because we suck at teaching people..haha..

Idham is doing great too..He's lazy,as usual..but somehow that brain of his functions alright..he keeps getting top scores in school, and the teacher's have targeted him in getting straight A's in SPM this year..Ibu doakan dia berjaya ya?

So that's it..just wanted to tell you how we are doing...we'll be visiting you soon, and I think you'll like the flowers we bought..I hope we've made you proud mom...I know that all the success so far is mainly because of you..thanks for asking God to give us all these opportunities..and we miss you..every second...

P/S: My baju raya turned out real bad! Looks like I gotta use your baju kurung's again..yup we are still the same size..haha..bye mom.

This is it..i'm officially unemployed..

It's so sad to leave you guys, but I know that what we share is something that'll last forever..

But I do need to emphasize this...do NOT share all the embarrassing things I did with you guys to public okay!!! What happens with the gang stays with the gang. Especially THAT video....Please Please Please..Ahaha! Here are some pics of us crazy people..

And here's a pic after my farewell party..thank you for arranging this dinner for muna and i!! you guys are the best...

Daddy's Little Girl...

My dad and I are always fighting. Not in the ferocious and kurang ajar kind of way, but we argue on a lot of stuff because of our difference in opinions. & the argument will usually end with us agreeing to disagree..

But then came the day that I needed a new laptop..I'm currently using a low end netbook with an intel atom processor..& it's sooooo slow..i couldn't possibly use this laptop for my postgraduate studies..

Since I'm almost broke (for valid reasons okay! Not because of shopping~), I had to turn to bank 'daddy'...

Dad was the one who started to sms me on the day I was thinking about buying the laptop..

"Izza, can you come home early & cook a little for buka puasa?Mama can't come home early from work"

"Okay dad sure" (of course this was kissing-ass/bodek phase 1)

"Ayah, I'm thinking of ordering a Macbook pro online"

"How much? Why buy online? If go to Mines can nego2 with the tauke, can get laptop on day of purchase also"

"Im getting the most basic one..around RM3XXX. Because I want to get the education discount from apple, I think it's only available online"

"Why not buy in the US?Org kata lg murah & latest"

"No ayah, apple products are the same price worldwide. I also need to learn to use this new OS before I start my classes. So the earlier I get it the better"

"Ok"

"Okay means you'll buy it for me, or we pay half-half?"

"We'll see.."

Then after work I went home early to cook for dad (kissing-ass/bodek phase 2), it was fun because it was just the two of us having dinner..Of course I was answering his questions & conversing with him more enthusiastically than usual (this was kissing-ass/bodek final phase)..

The next day...

"Ayah, can I order the laptop today?"

"Okay"

"Okay as in you're buying the laptop for me?" (I think my voice was high pitched with hope)

"Yes.." (he then lectured me about a lot of stuff and asked me to study hard & be someone successful)...

But of course I could not hear him over the excitement I was feeling of getting a Macbook....ahaha..

I know that's there's a slim chance that my dad is reading this..but THANK YOU DADDY for always being there for us, and you always try to give us your best...love you love you love you!!~

I love being a daddy's girl at 25...=)

Hey y'll...i've had enough of long posts. Ahaha..I hope I've provided enough info for those who are interested in pursuing their studies in the US, cause I'm not sure if I'm going to blog about that again because its so booooOooring...

I am not an avid blog reader, probably because I'm too busy with my own life & I'm not that interested in reading about other people's lives...

But there are a few blogs that I religiously follow..Besides from being gorgeous ladies (I do not follow any guy bloggers, I'm afraid they'll talk about football or other stuff I wont understand), these people have their own special traits. Lets start with.....

Vivy Yusof (http://www.proudduck.com/)

OMG, she is just so sweet. She's beautifully down-to-earth, even after all the success she's achieved with her online fashion shop. I did meet her in person once, and I was starstruck. I mean, how can you be 24 and gorgeous, & on top of that be managing a hugely successful company? She is such an inspiration...With a sense of humor that I adore & a very glamorous life, I read her blog like the newspaper. FYI, she's the Managing Director of FashionValet.net.

Jane Chuckei (www.chuckei.com/)

This little lady looks like a doll. She's a part time model & student. I do like her casual style, and since I don't really have a night life I depend on her blog to see how it is to party every once in a while.

Chloe Ting (www.chloeting.com/)

Chloe is a fashion blogger from Australia, & I just LOVE LOVE LOVE how she mix matches her outfits togother. I think everything she puts together is awesome~

So that's it for now people...I'm waiting for the pictures from the night of my proposal...can't wait to blog about that !! =)

Studying in the US...

Two posts in the same night...I told you I was bored...

Here's a post on what to do if you have any dreams of pursuing your postgraduate studies in the US..

Let me give you a warning though, I think US universities have the most troublesome & difficult application process out of all the universities in other countries...So you have to really want it, and be dedicated because this aint a walk in the park...It's a long process...

Before you start applying to your chosen university..you have to complete all the test required for the application..

Step 1: Complete all required tests

  • Test 1: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
This is basically an English test divided into 4 sections: Listening, Speaking, Reading & Writing  which take a total of about four and a half hours to complete. TOEFL can be done via two methods, paper based (pbt) and internet based (ibt). Most test centers nowadays only offer TOEFL ibt. The fee for this test is USD180.

Personally, I think if you did a sufficient amount of studying (I think I took 2-3 weeks to finish), you'll do fine. The hardest part was memorizing all the vocabulary, and also practicing on how to write an excellent essay. To register for this test, or to find more information, check out the link below:

http://www.ets.org/toefl/

Owh yeah, take note that your results are valid for two years only. For the US, the universities prefer TOEFL to IELTS, but if you have already done your IELTS you can ask the university if they'll accept your results.

  • Test 2: Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
Now, the GRE is something I detest. Its really2 hard. To me, I mean. I don't have a super genius brain, so I had to study very2 hard for this test. I even had to take it two times, because the first time I took it my marks weren't satisfying.

I took almost 2 months to study for the 2nd time I did this test, & even after that my marks weren't as excellant as I hoped.

The GRE consist of 3 sections: verbal, quantitative & analytical writing. All sections are equally tough. Your results will be valid for 5 years. The cost for this test is USD175. For more info on the GRE, go surf:

http://www.ets.org/gre

Conclusion: Both tests are equally important for your university application. A lot of the good graduate schools have very high benchmark scores for you to even qualify for applying, so try to achieve excellent results.

Step 2: University Applications

Once you've done all the required tests, you can now go ahead with your university application. I won't go into 'how to choose a university' because I think you'll be smart enough to google all the university rankings & figure out which university suits you & the field you are taking best.

Most universities use an online system for applications, & here are a few things that you have to prepare for your application:

  1. Your personal information  (working experience, your background, your educational history & etc) that you have to fill in their online form
  2. Your score reports for both TOEFL & GRE. You can find out how to send your score reports by checking out the links I provided for TOEFL & GRE.
  3. Transcripts. The universities usually want your original official transcripts sent directly from the institution that you did your bachelor's degree. You have to contact your university & ask them to reprint your transcript & than courier them to the respective university that you are applying to.
  4. Letter of Recommendations (LOR). Most universities require 3. So go back & contact your lecturers. They'll have to fill an online form which they will use to evaluate your performance.
  5. Personal statement. This is an essay that you have to write. They'll usually ask you to elaborate on your personal background, your career goals & what you can contribute to the university, or to your country. Now, I know a lot of us have a problem with grammar. So I usually hire professionals to proof read my essay. Here's a trusted site for you to check out. I have used their service many times, and so far I have never been disappointed.
  6. Application fee. Yup! It ain't free..you have to pay the processing fees which amounts to about 60USD~100USD.
So that's probably it. I think I covered all the general stuff. Some universities may require other things though. Good luck in your applications, and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any more questions. I'll try to help you out the best I can.

Probably one day I'll cover on 'scholarship applications'...adios amigos~

Hello people~ I am b.o.r.e.d....i am so not used to having free weekends...usually my weekends are filled with appointments, looking for new clothing for my online shopping blog, hanging out with my gf's, or just a movie date with my guy.

Since it's Ramadhan, people aren't as active as usual because we get tired easily since we dont eat for more than 12 hours.

So there I was, sitting home...not knowing what to do..thank god I have this little fella to play with..

Haha..my dear little brother...he really lights up the house...

But still, i just had to do something..housework was out of the question though..haha..

Soooo..retail therapy it was..went to Mid Valley to shop..;p

Visited the newly opened forever 21, and tried on a lace dress that was gorgeous..but because of my huge hips, it looked awful on me...I had to put it back on the rack..sob sob...so instead i camwhored...can i have new slim thighs for my birthday please???anyone???.....=(

Outfit: Kimono Cardigan (bought it in Batam, Indonesia), black top (audrey), navy pants (PDI) , necklace (Diva)
